Helping Gifted Students Soar
Theme of Gifted and Talented Conference for Parents and Teachers
Holland, MI - Individuals interested in learning how to support and/or teach a gifted student of any age are invited to attend the 2024 Gifted and Talented Conference “Helping Gifted Students Soar” on Monday, April 22 from 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM at the Haworth Conference Center in Holland.
The conference keynote speaker, Emerita Director of the Belin-Blank Center and Emerita Professor of School Psychology Dr. Susan G. Assouline will focus on Academic Acceleration and the various forms of acceleration available for advanced learners.
“Attendees will learn how to meet the needs of a variety of gifted and high-ability learners including twice exceptional and neurodivergent,” Jan Naymick, Gifted and Talented Consultant for OAISD, said. “Our speakers will also talk about understanding the social-emotional needs of these special students, a topic that can sometimes be overlooked.”
Additional conference speakers include Kimberly Phillips, MAGC President discussing “Advocacy For Michigan Gifted Students: What’s Happening Across the State and How to Help Your Child”, OAISD Program Developers for Career and Technical Education Denise Smyk andNicole Gitler who will speak on “Create EPIC Experiences for all Learners”, and Dr. Corinne Edwards covering “ The Early Years: One Family’s Journey Through Giftedness” and more.
There will also be a Q&A panel with the presenters.
