Ottawa Community Schools Network
Community Schools - Supporting Students, Families and Community
The primary goal of Ottawa Community Schools Network is to ensure that all students are physically, emotionally, and socially well with strong family supports to ensure each student develops to their own potential.
If you are looking for assistance, please call your Community School Coordinator. If you are not part of an OCSN school, please contact someone in your school district, or call 211 for assistance with basic needs.
Goal
To remove barriers to academic achievement from K-12 and advance student wellness and success through coordinated community connections.
Vision
All students are physically, emotionally, and socially well with strong family supports so that each student develops to their own potential.
Pillars
OCSN recognizes that relatively little can be done in isolation, and that members must work together for collective impact. OCSN is a community led initiative that supports the development of full-service community schools through infrastructure and technical assistance within a collective impact framework.
OCSN focuses on four priority areas:
- Integrated student supports
- Active family and community engagement
- Collaborative leadership and practices
- Expanded and enriched learning time and opportunities.
Community Schools bring together families, educators, and community partners and provide access to top-quality academics, enrichment, and health and social services under one roof so all students can succeed in school and life. Through these partnerships, community schools become the center of the neighborhood and a safe space to seek help and support educationally and otherwise.
Community schools are in the community, with the community, and for the community.
