The new Michigan public health code rule (Rule 338.7001(c)) goes into effect as of June 1, 2022, requiring all licensed and registered healthcare professionals to train on Implicit Bias as a condition for initial licensure/registration and renewals. The training must include interaction between an instructor and other participants which makes this in-seat course ideal for the requirements of the rule!

Implicit (subconscious) bias refers to the attitudes or stereotypes that affect our understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner. These biases, which encompass both favorable and unfavorable assessments, are activated involuntarily and without an individual’s awareness or intentional control. Interactive topics will include:

  • Define the concept of implicit bias
  • Reflect on personal and professional biases
  • Understand the impact implicit biases present in healthcare
  • Define strategies to mitigate the negative impact of implicit bias

This training will provide a certificate from Thompson M-TEC to validate your proof of compliance to the new rule
