Applied Welding Technology
Our 3-class program provides basic MIG and TIG welding training to inexperienced welders and offers articulated college credit. Students use equipment at their own individual work station for optimal hands on time.

Welding I
Offers hands-on training in arc (SMAW), and oxyacetylene cutting and welding processes.
MIG/GMAW welding
Teaches skills including:
- Gas metal arc welding
- Minor repairs to MIG welders
- Basic MIG welding processes including butt, lap and T-joint welds in the flat position on various metal thicknesses
- Introduction and limited practice on aluminum MIG
TIG/GTAW welding
Course content is individualized to the student’s need for experience on TIG welding for professional and/or personal use. Skills learned include introduction and practice on three alloys including aluminum, stainless steel, and cold rolled steel.
Certification: AWS Safety in Welding

MIG/GMAW welding is a self-paced project-based 32-hour course that emphasizes personal instruction while students work with a variety of welding applications.
MIG/GMAW welding includes:
- Gas metal arc welding
- Troubleshooting and minor repair to MIG welder
- Basic principles pertaining to the MIG welding process
- Butt, Lap and Tee welds in the flat position on various metal thicknesses
- Introduction and limited practice on aluminum MIG
TIG/GTAW Welding

Description:
This 32-hour course includes basic principles pertaining to TIG welding including:
- Introduction to and practice on aluminum, stainless steel, and cold rolled steel.
- Personalized instruction for professional and/or personal use.
Students should come prepared to weld the first night of class appropriately dressed in leather boots, pants (preferably cotton), and safety glasses.
