Transition Services
OAISD Transition Services are a coordinated, results-oriented process designed to support each student’s movement from school to adult life in alignment with Michigan guidance and IDEA. Transition planning for students with IEPs typically begins at 16 and is considered at 14 if appropriate. The planning is grounded in the student’s strengths, preferences, and interests that guide the development of measurable post-secondary goals in education or training, employment, and independent living, if suitable.
Programming includes:
- Individualized instruction
- Related services
- Community-based experiences
- Age-appropriate transition assessments
Our mission is to partner with families, students and, when appropriate, community agencies, to equip every student with the strategies, self-advocacy, and functional skills needed to maximize independence and access community life with confidence.
