Empower. Engage. Equip.

Ottawa Area ISD Work-Based Learning (WBL) is a partnership between students, schools, and our local business community. At Ottawa Area ISD, we believe that students learn the work by doing the work. WBL connects students with opportunities to help them discover their future through workplace tours, job shadows, internships, co-op placements, apprenticeships, and more.

If it weren’t for Work-Based Learning, I wouldn’t know for sure what I wanted to do after high school. What is Work-Based Learning?

Work-Based Learning (WBL) is an educational strategy that connects classroom learning with real-world work experience. Whether it's a one-day job shadow or a full-semester co-op, students gain valuable career insights, while employers connect to future talent.

Need help getting started? Our team is here to meet the needs of employers, educators, students and families as they explore WBL opportunities.
