HELP ME GROW-OTTAWA AWARDED OVER $25K IN GRANTS

Four local community foundations provide financial support to the multi-agency collaborative.

Holland, MI-Help Me Grow-Ottawa (HMG-Ottawa), an affiliate of Help Me Grow National, announced today the receipt of over $25,000 in grants to help connect families and children, prenatal through age five, to the services and resources they need to be ready for school at the time of kindergarten entry.

STUDENTS WIN STATE AND LOCAL 4-H COMPETITIONS DURING SUMMER LEARNING

Holland, MI- Students in the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District's (OAISD) Careerline Tech Center (CTC) Agricultural and Animal Sciences program took first place in the Michigan 4-H/Future Farmers of America (FFA) Meats Judging Contest on July 21 at Michigan State University in East Lansing. A week later, eleven students placed in the top three in their classes in the Market Class and Showmanship competition categories in the Ottawa County Fair 4-H/FFA competition Monday, July 24-29 in Holland.

CAREERLINE TECH STUDENT WINS NATIONAL PLUMBING COMPETITION

Holland, MI- Andrew Funckes, a recent Careerline Tech Center Plumbing and Water Systems program student and Zeeland West High School alum ,won the 2017 SkillsUSA Plumbing National Championship at the national competition held June 19-23 in Louisville, Kentucky.

OAISD EARNS TWO NATIONAL COMMUNICATION AWARDS

Holland, MI- The Ottawa Area Intermediate School District (OAISD) Communications and Integrated Marketing team recently earned two 2017 Golden Achievement Awards from the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA) for the marketing/branding campaigns they developed for the Careerline Tech Center Early College program and Help Me Grow-Ottawa. The award recognizes “exemplary work in all aspects of school public relations, communication, marketing, and engagement.”

ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP HONORS FORMER CTC STUDENT

Holland, MI- Andrew Bont, a home schooled senior in the Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics program at Careerline Tech Center, was recently awarded the Darin Post Memorial Scholarship named in honor of former CTC Diesel/Heavy Equipment Mechanics student Darin Post who passed away March, 2014. This is the fourth year Post’s parents presented the scholarship to a CTC student in the program. isd.org
