Early College Credit

Careerline Tech Center students have the opportunity to earn college credit upon successful completion of our programs through direct credit and articulation agreements with area colleges and universities.

What is direct credit/articulation?

Direct credit can be earned for specific classes through Lake Michigan College. Students enroll as college students and receive a transcript for college credit that is accepted at most colleges and universities in Michigan. Articulation is an agreement between the Tech Center and a specific college/university. Students receive college credit for classes completed and skills learned. Credit does not transfer between colleges and universities.

What are the benefits of direct credit/articulation?

For students, early college credit gives you a head start towards your college education...you get college credit for skills learned during high school.

For parents, college credit gives students a chance to see college as an option. It lowers the overall cost of college and gives students an incentive to do well in their Tech Center classes.

Can direct credit/articulated credits be transferred to another college?

Direct credit is granted on an actual college transcript and the credit follows the student. The transfer of articulated credit from one college to another is not allowed unless you receive a certificate or degree from the initial college. If you have any questions, contact your college advisor.

What is the application process for college credit/articulation?

Contact your Careerline Tech Center program counselor or see Deb VanZee in the administrative offices for an application. Complete the application and return it to your CTC counselor.
